What Makes a Good Red Wine?

Huge producers and large chain retailers will lead you to believe that price or frilly presentation is the most important deciding factor when choosing a wine. Whereas cliche estates and fancy vintners will insist it is the terrior, the sur lies or the hundred-year old vines that you should consider when selecting your bottle.

In fact, what makes for a great red wine is whether or not, you, the drinker, the ultimate judge, genuinely enjoy them.

Although there almost as many wines as there are wine-drinker’s preferences in this ever expanding world there are a few attributes that seem to please all who partake; an all-encompassing bouquet, penetrating and structured tannins, cascading layers of nuanced palate conversations and always the everlasting finish that seams your first sip to the last glass from the bottle.

Those attributes in harmony with enticing varietal specific tasting profiles are behind the floodgates that are every Double Bond cork.

Taste why the adage, “Good Wine Only Gets Better With Age” has stood the test of time.

Good things come to those who wait…

Going to a chain retailer is quick, convenient and cheap, no one can argue that. But when you desire a wine that promises to engage and intrigue, it difficult to be found from the bottom to the top shelf. That’s because the quick, convenient and cheap wines can only last for 1-3 years, hardly enough time to develop any maturity or character, before it turns. On the other hand it’s not uncommon for a premium bottle of quality wine to last 20 years and beyond (even a delicate Pinot Noir.) So while the quick general store wine might get your night, it is the unhurried matured wine that gets your heart and memory for a lifetime.

With a curation of Pinots spanning 2010-2013, we’ve already done the waiting for you, now experience the good thing that is our 4 Pinot Vertical for the Price of 3 bottles.

We Know What You Care About…

While other wineries will try to “wow” you with their fancy eye catching labels or perchance even their grow methods or soil picks, all you want to know is wether the wine being delivered is going to be as good as (or even better than) your expectations.

That’s what we focus on here at Double Bond; over-achieving expectations. Sure, we can tell you why we choose the soils we do, the nuances of the harvest date, punch downs versus pull downs, the flavors birthed through whole cluster crushing and malolactic fermentation. We can sing the praises of our French Oak Barrels and the significance that 30% of them are always new - along with a myriad of other influences and practices we are dedicated to… all of which that can be summed up by a single word: QUALITY.

We’re the experts and promise to deliver over-achieving incomparable quality to anyone who trusts our vision on their palate.

FAQs

How long until I receive my shipment?

Most orders are shipped out the next business if ordered Monday-Wednesday. Orders received after 8am on Thursday will be shipped the next week to avoid any delays in a warehouse over the weekend. Delivery to most California zip-codes is next day.

Do you sell other types of wine?

Double Bond vints the four classic varietals out of the Central Coast; Edna Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Ballard Canyon Syrah and West Paso Robles Zinfandel. We go to the appellations where the grapes we want to transform into Double Bond wine grow the best. We do not limit our dream to the soils of an estate or force grapes to grow where they will not be unparalleled.

Do I save money if I become a club member first?

This curation is an introduction to what Double Bond is. We invite you to challenge our dream and our wine. We are confident that a Double Bond style Pinot once tasted will entice you long after the bottle is empty and we welcome you to join in so much more and all we have to offer with a club discount of up to 25%.

What happens if I get shipped a bad bottle of wine?

Cooked. Corked. Shocked. Oxidized… all are infrequent faults that no wine is immune to. A fault in a wine is not a fault we would ever expect those who entrust us to bear. Please, never hesitate to reach out to us if one of our wines is not above reproach.
